Tripadvisor now writes AI itineraries, answers questions in a chat assistant and sums up reviews at the top of each hotel page, all free in the app. A Which? investigation in July 2026 found the summaries called a Cape Verde resort with 102 food-poisoning mentions 'spotless', and the assistant said illness there was 'quite unlikely'. The underlying reviews are still useful, but the AI layer needs checking against the one-star reviews.

What people say

A September 2026 user thread asking whether the AI assistant makes Tripadvisor worth using drew mostly blunt no's, with several posters citing past review suppression and a cluttered app. A few use the itinerary tool or find a bot quicker than clicking through hotels.
